Often, we feel connected to people we only know online. We don’t meet in real life, sometimes we don’t even know one another’s names, just an Instagram handle. We changed that this week with the Social Media IRL event. We were joined by Eryn Gilson, 614 Mom; Shanisty Ireland, She’s Becoming Domestic; Amanda Hamman, Girl About Columbus; and Yasmine Robles, Robles Designs who each shared their tips and hacks for improving follower counts (clue: don’t even think about buying them) and increasing engagement. There were far too many tips to share in one post, but we wanted to give you the highlights.

  • Snag those social handles for your brand for all social platforms, even if you don’t plan to be on every platform (overkill BTW, so don’t sweat it. just focus on posting on the platforms that make the most sense for your audience.) to control how they’re used.

  • Content calendar programs like Hootsuite and Later can be tremendous time savers but remember to engage with your followers right away if you want to improve your engagement insights. By right away, we mean immediately.

  • Learn when to post and how often to post from your audience insights within Instagram. Forgot how? Just shoot us a message.

  • Quality posts are way more important than quantity of posts, so take some time in advance to plan them out with apps like PLANN or Planoly

  • Other apps we love to upgrade your social: SnapseedA Color StoryCanvaSpark, and Tailwind

This event is so much fun, especially in the breakouts where we get personal and dive deep into one another’s social media pages for specific advice. This event will be back for sure! Make sure to check back often on the Happenings page so you won’t miss it.
